Why Pilgrim

A Tradition of Excellence

Pilgrim is part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), the second largest private school system in the state of Wisconsin. The WELS has a rich tradition of academic excellence and has operated highly-regarded schools across the United States, the Caribbean, and the world for over 165 years.

Pilgrim Lutheran School is accredited by the National Council of Private Schools (NCPSA), Wisconsin Religious and Independent Schools Accreditation (WRISA), and Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod School Accreditation (WELSSA), receiving exemplary status in 2017.

Fast Facts

Pilgrim believes that a high-quality, Christ-centered education and curriculum provides children with key skills and beliefs for a child’s entire life. Christ’s love and forgiveness is central to every aspect of our teaching, and relationships through how we teach, what we do, and how we treat each other.

Pilgrim Lutheran Church makes scholarship funds available to every student who attends regardless of religious affiliation. Additional financial support from Pilgrim’s Tuition Assistance program is also available for those families whose need is the greatest.

With a faculty of 7 full or part time teachers, our average student/teacher ratio of 18:1 allows them to provide individualized attention to meet your child’s needs, wherever they may be academically.

Pilgrim Lutheran School participates in the Milwaukee & Wisconsin School Choice programs providing free tuition for students that qualify based on income and residency requirements.

Academics

Pilgrim prides itself on academic excellence, as shown by Pilgrim students who consistently perform well above national and state averages on standardized test scores. In the most recent MAPS standardized test, they outperformed their peers in nearly every subject area – math, reading, spelling, and English. Additionally, Pilgrim instills a love of learning that benefits our students later – nearly 100% of Pilgrim graduates go on post-secondary education; 75% go on to a four-year college/university.

Technology

Pilgrim recognizes the need for developmentally appropriate technology to fully empower learning - but the relationship between a student and teacher is vital to grow as a person. Pilgrim integrates technology throughout our academic program to lay the groundwork for their future education – and beyond! A balanced use of legacy textbooks and traditional learning alongside age-appropriate technology like Smartboards, iPads, and Chromebooks caters to various learning styles and gives students up-to-the-minute learning and information.

Sports

We offer interscholastic competition in volleyball, soccer, basketball, softball, cross-country, and track. Our no-cut athletic policy allows all interested students the opportunity to build strong relationships with peers, teachers and coaches while pursuing athletic goals.

Music

Another of Pilgrim's strong points is our music! Singing, along with a variety of instruments are taught in our classrooms, and as students get older, additional optional activities are available: band, choir, piano and more. Private band and piano lessons may be available. Please ask us for more information!
